Weekend Review 15/12
Another fantastic weekend of football for Salthill Devon F.C.! Our teams delivered some incredible performances, showing great skill, teamwork, and determination across all age groups. Let’s dive into some of the highlights:
U21B Team Secure Thrilling 5-3 Victory Over Kinvara!
A big win for the Salthill Devon U21Bs on Wednesday night in Drom against Kinvara.
Salthill went a goal behind after controlling the opening 20 minutes. Some great interplay between Kyle Cosgrove, Matthew Hosty and Daniel Mitchell led to Matthew finishing cleanly to grab his 4th of the season.
A goal straight from kick off put Devon into the lead after great pressing by Conor Lim Joon to slide the ball into George Gallagher for his first of the game.
George grabbed his second of the game, as Kyle Cosgrove slipped in a beautifully weight pass to put Salthill 3-2 to the good.
At 3-3 with ten minutes to go, Kyle Cosgrove, as he did against Renmore earlier in the season, wrapped his foot around a wicked free kick that the keeper could do nothing about to put Devon in the lead 4-3 going into the final minutes.
Kian O’Connell marauded forward from left back to slip in George Gallagher for the 5th goal, completing his hat trick in style, hitting 3 in this game to add to his FIVE he scored in the away fixture.
Kinvara will be happy not to have to see George again until next season!
U12A Boys Celebrate Connacht Cup Win and Santa Grotto Visit!
Very good win for BU12A this morning (Saturday) in the Connacht Cup away to St Bernards, great to have a good few different scorers, but special mention to Ben Grimes with a hat trick.
The U12As managed to make it back to Drom after their 7-0 victory to see the big fella and thank all the helpers at the Drom Santa Grotto.. roll on Bara 2026. All the support from the Devon Families was very much appreciated.
Other goals came from Ansu Villacastin, Daniel Hickey and Thomas Maguire.
Emily Conway Makes Galway Maroons U12 Debut in Victory Over Mayo!
Congratulations to Emily Conway, who plays for Salthill Devon U12s, on making her debut for Galway Maroons U12s in a win over Mayo U12s in Castlebar today. A fantastic achievement representing both club and county!
Galway Town U13 Excel in 5-0 Interleague Victory Over Longford!
Great display by Galway Town v Longford in the U13 inter leagues today. A 5-0 win with Elliott McCullough getting on the score board! Brilliant performances by our Salthill Devon lads – Elliott, Charlie and Finn. A fantastic team this group. Well done to everyone!
U16B Girls Remain Unbeaten with 7-1 Cup Victory Over Knocknacarra!
U16B girls remain unbeaten this season with a nice 7-1 victory over Knocknacarra in the Division 1 Cup this afternoon. The girls are through to the semi final after a very good team performance in really bad conditions at Drom. Scorers today Saoirse Ginty (2), Jane Carroll (2), Emily Fallon, Ellie McMahon and Aoibhe Gallagher. Well done girls!
U11 Teams Enjoy Lil’ Bros Pizza and FIFA Christmas Party!
All the Under 11 squads enjoyed a combined blitz in the cages this morning, and afterwards hoovered up delicious Lil’ Bros pizza slices while playing FIFA.
Thanks to Eugene Greaney and Ronan Greaney for putting on a great value deal for the club, and thanks to Anthony and the coaches for facilitating the party.
Fair play to the Under 12 coaches and parents for putting on the Santa’s Grotto. It was tremendous. Really raising the bar for the rest of us!
