In remembrance – Paschal O’Brien
Today marks the 10th anniversary of the the death of Paschal O’Brien. Paschal was a wonderful gentle man, with a passion for football, Arsenal in particular, and a founding member of this club.
His enthusiasm was pivotal in the early days when his presence on the side line enable us to field an U18 team which I had the honour to captain. When others were ‘tired’ or couldn’t be bothered Paschal was always there, always ready to help, but would never push himself forward.
He was instrumental in getting the Connacht Senior League up and running and was very supportive of Galway Rovers/United.
Paschal had something about him that is hard to put into words – suffice to say, his unassuming role in our fledgling days was key. His memory will live on amongst those who had the privilege to know him.
