Another Busy Weekend
Salthill Devon are getting to the ‘business end of the season; so it’s seven days a week from now on.
We had squads in Barcelona (under 12’s and under 16’s) this week. International tours are always great for player development, both on and off the field. Well done to James Cox and Matt Sutton for giving of their time to generously to organise these trips and also the parents who help out and travel.
On the weekend the adult men were buzzing, with the Junior A’s beating Athenry 2-0, away, in the league, a result that leaves them poised to retain their league title with just one game remaining. The goals came from Matthew Barrett and Tommy McKeown. The Junior B squad, led by Dave Carr, already Division 2 league Champions, had a 4-1 win over Benbulben (Sligo) to advance to the Connacht Shield Semi Final. The goals here came from Conor Tracey Steve o Reilly Odhran Taylor Leo Byrne
Fresh from their trip to Barcelona the U16A’s overcame Westport 2-1 to advance to the Connacht Cup Final

You can’t win all the time and it was a tough weekend for the girls with both the women’s squad and the Under 14’s losing away in their Irish Cup games. They both however are flying in their leagues.
The u14’s had a great opening 10 minutes. Hit the bar and should have scored it, wasted a couple of chances to go inn front. Two good finishes from Peamount saw them 2-0 at half time. Chasing the game at 3-0, Salthill emptied the bench for last few mins, conceding another couple of goals – so 5-1 was not a proper reflection of the game – big learning experience for the girls
