Padraic Morahan Memorial Golf Day

The Salthill Devon annual golf day for the Padraic Morahan Memorial Trophy was held recently at Galway Gold Club. Padraic was a stalwart supported of the club, where his son Donagh still coaches and his grandsons, James and Daniel are players.

Excellent weather greeted the 130 players and a wonderful day was had by all with prize giving in the clubhouse afterwards.

Speaking on behalf of the club, Club Director, Tony Johnstone said it was special for Salthill Devon to have Padraic’s name on the trophy.

“The club is justifiably proud of the turnout today, in Padraic’s memory, and also in support of the club – he would have approved” Tony thanked the Galway Golf club; “The Galway Golf Club is a wonderful venue, sincere thanks to them for allowing us to play!  And he also paid tribute to organising committee headed by Paul Fitzpatrick for delivering a top class event.

“This was the first year we had a main title event sponsor – generously done by Michael Burke from Burkeway Homes…….it was a massive boost for the event.  Michael is a great supporter of all sports and was really pleased to get involved with Salthill Devon’s golf day this year.” Added Tony.

We were lucky with the weather, a great social occasion with past and present club members taking with prizes presented in the golf club after
